The topic of discussion for this online group is Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, PTSD and Warrior Transitioning. Military personnel and spouses, parents or other adult family members who would like to learn more about PTSD and Warrior Transitioning are invited to attend. The format for the discussion group will be a structured online chat. The discussion groups are held in the MarineParents.com online chat room.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Day

Thirty-nine years ago – March 30, 1973, to be exact – the Vietnam War officially ended when the United States withdrew its combat and support units from Southeast Asia. From an American public at large that had long since grown tired of the war, many of the returning veterans were greeted with hostility or indifference. Class Action Settlement for Veterans with PTSD

On December 22, 2011, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims gave approval to a class-action settlement victory for veterans and their families. As a result of the settlement proposed by The National Veterans Legal Services Program (NVLSP), the U.S. military agreed to pay lifetime disability retirement benefits to 1,029 of the Iraq and Afghanistan veterans discharged with PTSD who were denied benefits. Marine Corps Phasing Out Recalls

Marine Corps Mobilization Command (MOBCOM) recently released an email newsletter containing an article about IRR recalls. The article states, “The Corps has stopped putting Individual Ready Reserve Marines on involuntary orders, phasing out recalls as the active duty force has grown to 202,000.”

The Missouri Veterans Commission along with AMVETS, the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, the Veterans Foreign Wars, Vietnam Veterans and Marine Parents will hold 21 Listening Posts across Missouri from September 14 through October 28.
This is a joint effort aimed at assessing the needs of Veterans. Questions will be asked via note cards to assure confidentiality and subject matter experts will be available. All those who served in the military, regardless of belonging to an organization, are invited to attend.

Job Opportunities for Disabled American Veterans (JOFDAV) is a free nationally based online recruitment application that is specifically designed for disabled American veterans.
This is a free public service site where disabled veterans can post resumes and employers can post jobs. To post a resume, job seekers must first fill out an online registration. The resume will post for three months. After three months, job seekers are given the option to repost their resume, to modify it or to leave it inactive. Job seekers don’t have to wait for employers to find them - they can browse through job openings that companies already have posted.
